Help

Answers to the most common questions. Names in quotation marks are the ones you see in the app.

Which devices does the app run on?

iPhone and iPad, with iOS or iPadOS 17 or later. The app is free, with no ads and no subscription.

It is not on Android yet.

When will the app be on Android?

We are working on it. Write to contact@parkinsontracker.ch and we will let you know.

How do I get reminders at my dose times?
  1. In “Treatment”, enter your medication and its times.
  2. Turn on “Notify Me at My Dose Times”, then allow notifications when your iPhone asks.

By default, a reminder shows only “Treatment reminder” and the time, without the name or the dose. To see them, turn on “Show Name and Dose in Reminders”.

How do I take a break from reminders?

In “More”, choose “Take a Break”, then the length. During the break, your journal stays just as it is. Medication reminders continue unless you turn on “Also Pause Medication Reminders”. The break applies to the device where you start it.

The “Check-in Reminder” is set in “More”. It is off at first.

How do I add the widget to the Home Screen?
  1. On the Home Screen, touch and hold an empty area, then tap “Edit” and “Add Widget”.
  2. Search for “Parkinson Tracker”, choose “My State” and one of the three sizes.

Tapping a state in the widget opens the app, which records it. You can undo it straight away. When your iPhone is locked, the widget hides your information.

How do I create the report for my neurologist?
  1. In “More”, open “Neurologist View”.
  2. Choose the “Report Period”.
  3. Tap “Export PDF Report”, then choose how to send or print it.

The report goes to no one unless you send it. It starts with what you wrote in “To Tell My Neurologist” and “What Went Well”.

How do I see my journal on my iPad?

On each device, sign in with the same iCloud account, then turn on “Sync with iCloud” in “More”. The journal is copied to your private iCloud and appears on the other device.

Steps, sleep and workouts read from Apple Health do not go through iCloud: each device reads its own.

How do I move to a new iPhone?

The simplest way: turn on “Sync with iCloud” on the old iPhone, then on the new one, with the same iCloud account.

Without iCloud: in “More”, “Send My Data to Another Device” creates a copy of your journal. On the new iPhone, “Add Data from Another Device” brings it in.

How do I delete everything?

In “More”, tap “Delete All My Data”, then “Delete Everything”. This cannot be undone.

With iCloud, the deletion reaches your other devices. Update them first and let them connect: a device that stayed offline learns of the deletion the next time it connects, and then sets its old copy aside.

Which languages is the app available in?

French, German, Italian, English, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese, Korean and Simplified Chinese. It follows your iPhone’s language. To choose another language for this app only: iPhone Settings, then “Apps” depending on your iOS version, “Parkinson Tracker”, “Preferred Language”.

My steps or sleep do not appear

Check that you have allowed the app to read this data: iPhone Settings, “Health”, “Data Access & Devices”, “Parkinson Tracker”.

If you wear a fitness band, its data appears only if its app writes it to Apple Health. A day without a measurement stays empty: it is never counted as zero.

Can the app tell me what to do if I missed a dose?

No. Parkinson Tracker is a personal journal. It does not diagnose, it makes no recommendations and it does not replace a doctor’s advice. It never advises catching up on or doubling a dose. For any question about your treatment, ask your care team.
